We’re pleased to share that BrisTechTonic is now an accredited Living Wage Employer.
It means everyone who works with us is paid at least the real Living Wage; the rate set independently by the Living Wage Foundation based on what it actually costs to live, rather than the government minimum.
What’s the difference?
The National Living Wage is the legal floor. The real Living Wage is calculated from the actual cost of things like rent, food, and bills. They’re not the same number, and for a lot of people, the gap is significant. The Living Wage Foundation’s guide to the real Living Wage sets out how each year’s rate is calculated.
Accreditation means committing to review pay in line with the Foundation’s annual updates, it’s an ongoing standard, not a one-off decision.
Why it matters to us
We’re a small team. We work closely together and depend on each other to do good work for clients. If you want to know more about how we operate, the about page covers the people behind the work, and the meet the team page has the names and faces.
Bristol has a long tradition of businesses taking this kind of thing seriously, and we’re glad to be part of that community. Our Bristol SEO page has more on the kind of local clients we work with day to day.
If you want to find out more about the Living Wage Foundation and what accreditation involves, you can at livingwage.org.uk. For the broader UK context on responsible business standards, the government’s National Minimum Wage and Living Wage rates page shows how the legal floor compares to the real Living Wage figure.
