BrisTechTonic is a Bristol SEO agency that helps UK businesses get found on Google, the local map pack and the AI assistants they now ask, like ChatGPT and Perplexity. A lot of impressions and almost no clicks means one of three things, and they have opposite fixes. Either your result is being shown but not chosen, because the title and description give no reason to click. Or you are ranking for broad searches that were never going to click anything, so the impression count is a mirage. Or an AI answer is satisfying the searcher before they reach you. BrisTechTonic works out which one you have from your own Search Console data, then fixes the thing that actually earns the click, whether that is the snippet, the searches you are chasing, or being the source an AI answer quotes. We have taken a single page from a 2.4% to a 4.8% click-through rate and 4,161 clicks in ninety days, so we know the gap between being shown and being chosen is closeable.
There are only a few real reasons a page ranks and does not get clicked, and your data tells you which one you have. The most common, and the most fixable, is that you are shown but not chosen: the title and description do not give the searcher a reason to pick you over the result above or below. The second is that you are ranking for broad or informational searches where almost nobody clicks anything, so a huge impression count looks like success and means very little. The third is newer: an AI Overview or an assistant answered the question using your content, and the searcher never needed to click at all.

The trap is treating impressions as a scoreboard. We see it constantly, a business proud of a chart climbing to tens of thousands of impressions, while the clicks underneath stay flat and the enquiries never move. Impressions measure how often you are shown, not how often you are chosen, and the two have come apart badly in the last couple of years. One of our own glossary pages took 2,695 impressions in a month and no clicks at all, and that is now normal rather than a fault. The number that matters is clicks, and the enquiries behind them.
The fastest win on this list is usually the one nobody tries first. Rewriting the title and description to answer the search in the first line and give a clear reason to click can lift click-through on a page that has not moved position at all, and it shows within a few weeks of being re-crawled. The slower work is refocusing pages onto searches that actually convert, and restructuring so you are the source an AI answer quotes rather than the result it replaced. We do the fast thing first, measure it, then decide whether the slower work is worth it.
These are industry figures, not our own results, and we do not invent numbers. They show why the first result is worth a multiple of the tenth, and why a site that cannot be found simply is not in the running. No ranking is ever guaranteed.
Ranking but no clicks, broken down.
Titles and snippets rewritten →
Where you rank well but get passed over, we rewrite the title and description to answer the search in the first line and give a reason to choose you, then measure the change in click-through page by page. The fastest win available.
Search intent refocused →
Where you are shown for broad searches that never click, we refocus the page or build a more specific one, so you rank for the queries that bring enquiries rather than the ones that pad the count.
Built to be the cited answer →
Where an AI answer is getting there first, we structure the page with clear answers, honest facts and schema that matches what a reader sees, so you are the source it quotes. That is value from a search that no longer sends a click.
Climbing out of the dead zone →
Position six on a page of ads, a map pack and an AI answer is not the position six it was five years ago. We strengthen the page and its internal links to reach the positions that still earn attention.

“I've had the pleasure of working with Chris on several SEO projects for my websites in the health field. He was definitely been able to demystify things so that I felt able to make decisions with him and feel confident they were the right ones. For a non-techie, that is worth gold! I look forward to working with Chris again and warmly recommend him to anyone who - like me - is unsure about all things SEO.”
“I was recommended by my branding partner to use Chris and his team last year. I can’t recommend them highly enough. They are very responsive , easy to communicate with and great at translating techy stuff when needed. They are now an essential part of my business model”
“We've been working closely with Chris, Hannah and the team for over 12 months now. As a small company with ambitious growth plans, it was incredibly important that we made the right choice on who to trust with our SEO. 18 months later, we're totally thrilled with our experience so far and our growing online presence within our market. We'd happily recommend BTT and their services to other SMEs. Drop them an enquiry!”

The way we run Ranking but no clicks.
Free discovery call
We read your Search Console with you, find the pages where impressions and clicks have come apart, and tell you which of the three problems you are looking at before you commit.
Diagnose page by page
We split your pages by shape, read the searches behind them and check what is sitting above you in the results, so each page gets the fix its actual problem calls for.
Snippets first, then structure
We rewrite the titles and descriptions that are costing the most clicks first, measure the change, then move to refocusing pages and building for AI citation where it is worth it.
Report on click-through, not impressions
We report the change in click-through rate and clicks page by page, so you can see the gap closing rather than watching an impression chart that means little.
How do we approach Ranking but no clicks?
Split the problem before fixing it
High impressions and low clicks at a good position is a snippet problem. The same at a bad position is an intent or depth problem. Clicks that fell when AI answers arrived is a third thing again. We separate these from your own data, because the three fixes point in opposite directions and guessing wrong costs a quarter.
Read the actual searches
We look at the queries each page is shown for and ask whether a person typing that was ever going to click a result like yours. Half of a big impression count is often searches you would not want the traffic from anyway.
Fix the thing that earns the click
Titles and descriptions where you are shown but not chosen, better-targeted pages where you are chasing the wrong searches, or quotable structure where an AI answer is getting there first. Matched to the cause, measured page by page.
You deal with our small, experienced Bristol team directly, from the first call to every monthly report.

Who does the work, and how?
Reading the difference between a snippet problem and an intent problem is judgement built from doing it, not a checklist. BrisTechTonic is the trading name of Bryley Ltd, based in Bristol, and your account is run by a small, experienced team, the people who read your data rather than a back office. We would rather show you from your own Search Console which of the three problems you actually have than sell you a generic content package, which is why the first call is free and spent in your data.
We doubled a page's click-through
A wedding celebrant went from a 2.4% to a 4.8% click-through rate, and a single page took 4,161 clicks in ninety days. The impressions were already there. We made them convert into visits.
We lifted click-through 67% on the same pages
A Bristol video producer kept the same pages and got a 67% lift in click-through and 50% more clicks, by being chosen rather than just shown.
We are working our own version of this
Our own new site takes nearly fifty thousand impressions and a fraction of the clicks you would want, and we published exactly that. The gap between shown and chosen is the whole problem, and we are honest that we are working ours too.

Ranking but no clicks: common questions.
Why do I have thousands of impressions but no clicks?
Usually one of three reasons. You are shown for broad or informational searches where few people click, your title and description give no reason to choose you over the results around you, or an AI answer is satisfying the question before the click. The fix depends on which, and your own Search Console data shows us which one it is.
Is a high impression count a good thing?
Not on its own. Impressions measure how often you are shown, not how often you are chosen, and the two have drifted a long way apart. A page can take thousands of impressions and no clicks and that is now normal rather than broken. Clicks, and the enquiries behind them, are the number worth watching.
Can you improve click-through without changing my rankings?
Often, yes, and it is the fastest win available. Rewriting the title and description to answer the search and give a clear reason to click can lift click-through on a page that has not moved position at all, and it tends to show within a few weeks of being re-crawled.
Are AI Overviews taking my clicks?
Sometimes, for questions that can be answered in a sentence. Fighting it does not work. Being the source the AI answer quotes does, and it is a different piece of work we can do, structuring the page so it is the thing an assistant cites. It is value from a search that no longer sends a click, rather than a click you have lost for good.
How fast will I see more clicks?
Title and description changes can show within a few weeks of being re-crawled. Refocusing pages onto better searches, or restructuring for AI citation, takes longer. We do the fast work first, measure it, and give you a realistic order and timeline from your own data rather than a promise.
How much does this cost?
A title-and-snippet pass across your key pages is a defined, fast piece of work. Rebuilding pages to chase better searches, or restructuring to be the cited answer, is larger. Pricing starts at £299 per month, and we scope it to what your data shows is actually costing you clicks, so you are not paying for work your pages do not need.
