Landing Page (PPC)

A landing page is the page a user reaches after clicking your ad, designed to receive paid traffic and convert visitors into customers. Unlike general-purpose pages, it has one goal, one call to action and minimal navigation distractions.

In depth

Landing Page (PPC), explained properly.

•A click is only worth money if the landing page converts it.
•Google scores your landing page experience as part of Quality Score.
•Aim to load in under three seconds, especially on mobile.
•Sending all paid traffic to the homepage is the classic mistake.

What is a PPC landing page?

A landing page in PPC is the specific page a user lands on after clicking your ad. It might be your homepage, a dedicated service page, or a purpose-built page created solely for a campaign. It is arguably the most important factor in whether your PPC spend generates a return, because a click is only worth money if the page converts it. You can have the best-targeted, most beautifully written ad in the world, but if the landing page is slow, confusing or irrelevant, the click is wasted.

Why landing pages affect Quality Score

Google evaluates your landing page as part of the Quality Score calculation, specifically the landing page experience. It looks at relevance, page speed (particularly on mobile), transparency, ease of navigation and originality.

Landing page optimisation basics

- Match the headline to the ad, so users feel they have landed in the right place. - Load in under three seconds, especially on mobile. - One clear call to action: a phone number, form or booking link. - Social proof: reviews, accreditations and guarantees. - Remove navigation if you are running a dedicated campaign page. Landing page improvement is part of our PPC work, because no amount of ad optimisation makes up for a page that does not convert.

Common questions

Landing Page (PPC): common questions.

How is a landing page different from a regular page?

It is single-purpose. Regular pages serve several purposes at once: information, navigation and conversion. A landing page exists to convert one specific audience for one specific offer, so it typically has no header navigation, one prominent call to action, and content focused on the offer.

Should every Google Ads campaign have its own landing page?

Each ad group should send traffic to a page that genuinely matches the ad copy and search intent. Sometimes that means dedicated landing pages per ad group, and often it means well-targeted existing service or product pages. The wrong choice is sending all paid traffic to the homepage.

What lifts landing page conversion rate?

Five things: a match between ad copy and landing page headline, speed, trust signals such as reviews and recognised logos, a clear single call to action repeated through the page, and reduced friction in any forms. Each tested individually compounds when stacked.

How long should a landing page be?

Match the content to the complexity of the offer. Simple, low-cost, low-risk offers work with short focused pages of 200 to 500 words. Complex, high-cost, considered purchases need longer pages of 1,000 to 3,000 words covering features, benefits, social proof and objection handling.

“I've had the pleasure of working with Chris on several SEO projects for my websites in the health field. He was definitely been able to demystify things so that I felt able to make decisions with him and feel confident they were the right ones. For a non-techie, that is worth gold! I look forward to working with Chris again and warmly recommend him to anyone who - like me - is unsure about all things SEO.”

Biliana Avramova

“I was recommended by my branding partner to use Chris and his team last year. I can’t recommend them highly enough. They are very responsive , easy to communicate with and great at translating techy stuff when needed. They are now an essential part of my business model”

Sandra Webber

“We've been working closely with Chris, Hannah and the team for over 12 months now. As a small company with ambitious growth plans, it was incredibly important that we made the right choice on who to trust with our SEO. 18 months later, we're totally thrilled with our experience so far and our growing online presence within our market. We'd happily recommend BTT and their services to other SMEs. Drop them an enquiry!”
