BrisTechTonic is a Bristol SEO agency that helps UK businesses get found on Google, the local map pack and the AI assistants they now ask, like ChatGPT and Perplexity. A content audit is a thorough review of every page on your site to decide what to keep, improve, combine or remove. It finds cases where two of your own pages are competing for the same search so neither wins, thin or out-of-date pages dragging the site down, and pages that could get found with an update. Fixing what you already have is often quicker and cheaper than making new pages, because you are building on the trust your site has already earned.
New content is not always the answer. A site that has published for years usually has pages fighting each other for the same search, thin pages watering down its trust with Google, and strong pages one update away from getting found.

We find those first. A review turns a sprawling back catalogue into a clear list of what to update, what to combine and what to retire, so the quickest wins are taken before a penny is spent on new pages.
Content is the only asset that keeps earning after you stop paying.
These are industry figures, not our own results, and we do not invent numbers. A page written once can earn traffic for years, where an ad stops the day the budget does. No outcome is ever guaranteed.
What does Content audit cover?
Full content inventory

Keyword cannibalisation review
We spot your own pages competing for the same search, then decide which should win and how to fold the others into it.

Thin and near-identical pages merged or retired so Google's trust builds up on your strong pages instead of being spread thin.

What clients say about working with us.
“I've had the pleasure of working with Chris on several SEO projects for my websites in the health field. He was definitely been able to demystify things so that I felt able to make decisions with him and feel confident they were the right ones. For a non-techie, that is worth gold! I look forward to working with Chris again and warmly recommend him to anyone who - like me - is unsure about all things SEO.”
“I was recommended by my branding partner to use Chris and his team last year. I can’t recommend them highly enough. They are very responsive , easy to communicate with and great at translating techy stuff when needed. They are now an essential part of my business model”
“We've been working closely with Chris, Hannah and the team for over 12 months now. As a small company with ambitious growth plans, it was incredibly important that we made the right choice on who to trust with our SEO. 18 months later, we're totally thrilled with our experience so far and our growing online presence within our market. We'd happily recommend BTT and their services to other SMEs. Drop them an enquiry!”

The way we run Content audit.
Inventory and score
We combine a scan of your site with your visitor stats and Google Search Console to judge every page on the difference it makes.
Decide the verdict
Keep, improve, combine or cut, each with a reason and an order to tackle it.
Action and re-measure
We make the most important fixes first, then check them against your Google positions and visitor numbers to confirm the gain.
How do we approach Content audit?
Inventory everything
We check every page against the search it is aiming for, the visitors and sales it brings in, and what its searchers actually want, so decisions are based on evidence.
Find the cannibalisation
Where two or more of your pages compete for the same search, we decide which should win and fold the others into it, so they stop splitting the vote.
Keep, improve, merge or cut
Each page gets a clear decision: update it, combine it into a stronger page, or retire it and point its web address at a better one.
Refresh before rebuild
Pages that already sit on page two of Google, or that Google already trusts, are usually quicker to move up than a brand-new page, so we improve those first.
Real people doing the work, and putting their name to it.
You deal with our small, experienced Bristol team directly, from the first call to every monthly report.

Are we the right fit for you?
Thinking of switching from another agency?
Moving your Content audit to us is more straightforward than staying somewhere that is not working. You keep everything you already own, we pick up without a gap, and we can run the whole thing for you or work alongside your team and your developers, whatever suits.
A free look first
We review what your current agency has done, tell you straight what is worth keeping and where the quick wins are. No obligation to move.
You keep what's yours
Your site, content, Google Business Profile and analytics stay in your name. We work with what you already have; nothing is held hostage.
A clean handover
We map the work across, set a plain-English baseline in the first few weeks, and carry on from there. No starting from zero, no quiet ranking gap.
Three-month minimum, then rolling monthly on 30 days’ notice. No long lock-in, no exit fees.
The fastest win is usually already on the site?
We are happy to tell you not to pay for new content when updating or combining what you have would earn more, sooner. The review exists to spend your budget where it moves the numbers, which is often on pages you already own.
Judged on impact
Pages are scored on the visitors and work behind them, so effort goes where it pays.
Consolidation over sprawl
We build Google's trust up on your strong pages rather than adding to a pile of thin ones.
Honest verdicts
If a page should be cut, we say so, rather than keep it alive just because deleting feels like a loss.

Content audit: common questions.
What is keyword cannibalisation?
It is when two or more of your own pages go after the same search, so they end up competing with each other. Google struggles to choose between them, and neither does as well as a single combined page would.
Should I delete old content?
Sometimes. Thin, out-of-date or repetitive pages can drag a site down and waste Google's time reading it. We combine them or point their web addresses somewhere useful where that helps, rather than delete everything blindly.
Is a refresh really faster than new content?
Often, yes. A page that already sits on page two, or that Google already trusts a little, can move up with an update, where a brand-new page has to earn that trust from scratch. We tackle those first.
How often should we audit our content?
A full review is worth doing before a big content push, and a lighter check regularly after that, because pages go stale and your own pages start competing again as a site grows.
